Owners, admins and members

The three access levels in an organization, how they differ from job roles, and what each can see

AD-1For organization adminsAll sections ↓

Everyone in an organization belongs to it with one of three access levels. Separately, each person holds one or more job roles. The two do different jobs.

Access levels

  • Member: uses the streamlines their roles allow. Most people are members.
  • Admin: everything a member can do, and also sees the organization's Usage and its Library, where streamlines are shaped and changes staged (LIB-1). Admins can always sign in with their email, whatever sign-in the organization chose for its members.
  • Owner: as admin. Owners are the people responsible for the account itself. Keep at least two, so the organization is never locked out if one leaves.

Settings → Accounts shows your own access level under Access, beside your name, your roles and your store.

Roles

Roles are jobs: Associate, Store manager, Receiving. Each streamline lists the roles that may open it, and people see only the streamlines their roles allow. In the Meridian demo, an associate sees Register; a store manager sees Register, Approvals and Receiving.

Roles come from your organization's own records: when someone's job changes there, what they see in Streamliner follows.

What nobody can do in the app

Members never change an organization's streamlines. Owners and admins can open them in the Library and stage changes there; a staged change goes live only when it is published as a new signed version of the organization's setup, from a device an owner approved (see Publishing from the app, AD-5). No AI key is ever shown or held on a device.

The person's own access in your organization's systems still decides what the assistant can do for them. An admin in Streamliner is not an admin in your point of sale.
