The keys the Mac app answers to, and what no key will ever do
The Mac app answers to these keys, and so does an iPad with a keyboard: hold ⌘ on the iPad to see them. About → Shortcuts lists them too.
Chats
- ⌘N or ⌘T: a new chat (a new tab) in the card you are working in. File → New Chat In offers every streamline.
- ⌘W: close the selected tab (the chat stays under Chats). With no tab open, it closes the window.
- Return: send. Shift-Return or Option-Return: a new line. ⌘-Return: always sends.
- ⌥⌘I: show or hide the overview beside the card. ⌥⌘L: show or hide Chats.
- ⌘F: open Chats and search the chats of this streamline.
- ⌃⇥ / ⌃⇧⇥, or ⇧⌘] / ⇧⌘[: the next or previous tab in the card.
- Right-click a tab (on an iPad or iPhone, press and hold it): that chat's options: Rename…, Speak Replies (where voice is on), Copy Chat Reference, Close Tab (Keep the Chat), Archive Chat, Delete Chat….
- ⇧⌘C: copy the selected chat's reference.
- Chat → Delete Chat… (no key, on purpose): delete the selected chat, after asking.
- ⇧⌘B: scan a code, where the streamline scans (Chat → Scan Code on the Mac).
- ⇧⌘L: start listening: talk instead of typing (Chat → Start Listening).
- ⇧⌘A: attach a file (File → Attach File…). You can also drag files from Finder onto a chat, or paste with ⌘V.
All of these are in the Chat menu, except New, Close and Attach File in File and Find in Edit.
Cards and windows
- ⌘-click a tab: put it side by side with the selected chat.
- ⌘-click a sidebar row: put that card beside what is on screen. On an iPad without a keyboard, Side by Side does the same (On the iPad and iPhone, GS-7).
- ⇧⌘N: Open in New Window, moving the card on screen into a window of its own.
- ⌘⌫: Forget This Arrangement, when a kept arrangement is on screen.
- ⌘,: Settings.
- ⌘Q: quit.
The Library
- ⌘S: Save (on this device) or Stage… (in an organization) the streamline, brief, card template or form you are editing.
- ⌘[: back to the previous Library page.
Sheets
- Esc closes a sheet or cancels a form without sending it.
- Return chooses the highlighted button, such as Allow on the AI consent screen.
What no key does
No shortcut confirms a confirmation card, submits a secure form or signs you in. Those are always a deliberate click on the button, so a stray keystroke can never submit a sale or send a card number. See Confirmation cards (AS-2).
