Several accounts on one device, like Slack — switching between them, what needs you in each, adding and leaving one
Streamliner can hold several accounts at once: On this device (the free place for your own streamlines), each organization you have joined, and the demo. One is open at a time. The others stay signed in and keep their chats; nothing is signed out when you switch.
The account switcher
The account you are in sits at the top of the sidebar on the Mac and the iPad, and at the top of the list on the iPhone: its logo, its name, who you are there, and a small arrow. When another account has something waiting for you, a count appears beside it.
Tap or click it to see every account. Each shows how many of its chats need you (a confirmation waiting, a form, a sign-in, or something that failed), and a checkmark marks the one that is open. Choose another to switch: its streamlines, chats and layout come back as you left them.
Below the accounts:
- In the Meridian demo, one row per other demo person: Switch to Ava · Sales associate, Switch to Marco · Store manager, Switch to Priya · Receiving. One click and you are that person, with their streamlines and chats.
- Join an Organization… opens the Join an Organization sheet: paste an invite link, use this device for free, or try the demo. Accounts you already have are not offered again.
- <Organization> — on your other devices: an organization you joined on another device (see below). Choose it to sign in here.
- Use on This Device brings back your free personal account if you left it (it is listed only then).
- Manage Accounts… opens Settings → Accounts.
What belongs to an account
The sidebar or list shows only the open account's streamlines, its kept arrangements and, where you may shape it, the Library (your own place on this device; an organization's owners and admins), and Usage for an organization's owners and admins. Vault, Settings, Style, About and Report an Issue belong to the app and are the same in every account.
Leaving one account
In Settings → Accounts, choose the account, then:
- Sign Out of an organization: you are signed out on its side too, and its chats and setup are deleted from this device. Your other accounts are not affected.
- Remove from This Device and Your Other Devices… (when your organization list syncs with iCloud; also in the account switcher): signs out here as Sign Out does, takes the organization off your list, and signs out of it on your other devices too (see below).
- Leave This Demo: the demo's chats on this device are deleted.
- Remove from Accounts for On this device: nothing is deleted; your streamlines, keys and chats stay, and Use on This Mac (Free) (iPad, iPhone) brings it back.
If an organization ends your access, only that account goes, with a calm message; the next account opens behind it.
Your organizations on your other devices
Join an organization on your iPhone and it shows up on your iPad and Mac too, signed out, as <Organization> — on your other devices, in the account switcher and in Settings → Accounts → On your other devices. Choose Sign In and you get that organization's usual sign-in (an email code, or Sign in with Apple), already pointed at it and with your email filled in. No new invite is needed: you are already a member.
Only the list travels, through your own iCloud: each organization's name, logo and color, its address, and your email (or your member id there) as a hint. Your sign-ins never sync. Each device signs in on its own and keeps its session in its own Keychain, so an organization's sign-in never follows your Apple ID.
- Sign Out on one device keeps the organization in the list everywhere, with Sign In.
- Remove (on a row under On your other devices), or Remove from This Device and Your Other Devices… on an organization you are signed in to, takes it off the list on every device, and signs out of it on every device that is still signed in: each one ends its session, deletes that organization's chats, setup, connections and publishing key, and says once: You removed <Organization> on another device. Signed out here. A device that is offline or closed does this the next time it syncs or opens.
- Joining again (an invite or Sign In) after a Remove brings the organization back, and that Remove never signs you out of it again.
- A device with Sync organization list with iCloud off is never signed out by a Remove made elsewhere; neither is an organization that keeps itself out of the list.
- If the organization has removed you, Sign In says so and the organization leaves your list.
- Some organizations keep themselves out of the list. Then you join with an invite on each device.
- The demo is never in the list.
The switch is Sync organization list with iCloud, in Settings → Accounts (and beside the other iCloud switches under On this device). Until you set it, it follows those switches: it is on while Sync streamlines or Sync chats with iCloud is on. It is set on each device, and it is free.
